Charging Subscriptions to Members
Subscriptions allow you to collect regular payments from your members, such as weekly, monthly, or termly fees. Gighammer uses Stripe to handle the payment processing.
Setting up the revenue settings
- In the left-navigation, go to the settings section, and press the revenue tab.
- Enable revenue features, and then ensure you have completed the Stripe onboarding process.
- Once you have done this, in the subscriptions section, enable subscription-collection.
- Define who will be the admin that manages the subscriptions, and has oversight of who is paying what, and the status of each member's subscription payments.
- Since this is sensitive information, you can restrict access to these pages to a single admin. If this is not enabled, all admins can view members' subscription statuses.
- Press the 'save' button.
- You can then add a subscrition product via the Products page. Read how to add a subscription product.
How members are charged
When you invite members to your group, and set a subscription amount for them, they will be prompted to set up their payment method during sign-up. Once they complete Stripe checkout:
- Payments are collected automatically according to your schedule.
- If you selected a start behaviour where payment starts at the point of signup, they will be charged a pro-rata amount for the current portion of the month, and then a full-month's payment at the star of the next billing cycle.
- If you selected a start behaviour where payment starts at the next billing cycle, they will have a free grace-period until the start of the next billing cycle is reached, and then they will be charged.
- You can view each member's payment status in your revenue dashboard by going to left-navigation > Subscribers.
- If a payment fails both you and the individual will be notified by email.
