Understanding Roles in Your Group

Roles help you organise members and understand who is available for events. They can represent voice parts, instruments, positions, or responsibilities, depending on your type of group.

How roles are used

Creating and managing roles

When you have created your group, you can then add pre-defined roles so members can pick their role from a list when joining your group.

  1. On the left-navigation, open Settings.
  2. Select the Roles section.
  3. Add each role you want members to choose from (for example, Soprano, Tenor, Drums, Coach).
  4. Save your changes.

Allowing members to create their own roles

You can choose whether members are allowed to create their own roles during sign-up. If you have a group with only a few roles and many members assign themselves one of these roles, it might make sense to pre-define the roles.

If you have a group where each member plays a specific role, it will be less arduous to just let each member define their own role when they sign up.
