Performance Events vs Calendar Events

There are two differenct types of event on Gighammer, and which one you use depends on what type of event it is.

Performance Events

These are one-off gigs or events, on a specific date, for which you want to collect availability information from your group members. You have many options with these types of event, such as whether it's published or hidden,  lift-sharing options, expense claims, guest lists, and so on. This is the core functionality of the site, and it helps you to keep track of who is available for your gigs and events in real-time.

You add performance events in the events list page, which you can get to from the left-navigation in the 'events' section.

Calendar Events

Calendar events are designed to be more like additional non-core events, and/or recurring events such as rehearsals. If you go to the left-navigation, in the 'calendar' section, then you can add a calendar event by clicking in the relevant date cell and filling in the information there. Here you can specify recurring events and addother relvant information as necessarry.

Viewing and editing both types of event

You can view both types of event from both places - the list or the calendar - but you can only collect event availability from events created in the list view. Once a performance event has been created from the list view, it can be edited in the calendar, but the reverse does not apply - you can't edit a calendar event so that you can collect availability info. You will have to create it from the list view.
